Being only 23, I only have three...

Fiat Seicento - First car after passing my test just after my 17th birthday. Engine blew after a top speed run...

VW Polo OpenAir - Second car, had a lot of potential for a show car, but never really had the enthusiasm for it (was only a 1.0l)

VW Golf Gti - Current car, and even now afteralmost 3 years of having her, I still love driving her!
05, 3door Red GTI DSG, BCS Powervalve 200 Cell, DNX525DAB, Xenons, R-Tech 2+

mk1 golf 1.0c (1st car - failed mot on rusty chassis)

Diahatsu charade 1.0l (good car but just a stop gap)

mk2 golf 1.3c (unbelievably slow)

mk2 golf 1.6 driver (best condition car I have ever owned, registered H150 DBC)

Honda CRX 1.6 vtec (best seats ever, great engine but just didn't do it for me. Sold and kept the above mk2)

mk2 golf gti 16v #still got this# (best car I have ever had, and I've had it for 12years. Is undergoing restoration. I have upgraded the engine to a megasquirted ABF, with a short ratio'd peloquin diff'd gearbox - must hurry up and get it finished)

S14a Nissan 200sx (another car I loved. Had it for 6years but it was just starting to go rusty and was sold. I miss it, you don't see many and rwd is something else)

mk5 golf ed30 #current car# (owned for a few years now and can't find anything else yet that I'd change it for. Stage 2+ means it's quick when I want and civilised when I want)

Cool list, how did the 300bhp SAAB compare to the Stage 1 Eddy in your opinion?

Cool list, how did the 300bhp SAAB compare to the Stage 1 Eddy in your opinion?

Cheers,

To be honest, In a straight line probably very little in it. The Saab running the 2.3 and 15T turbo ran out of puff around 5000RPM but it did not matter as it was really flexible with no lag. Made for a very lazy fast road car, Could do everything in 4th gear from 30MPH upto 130MPH. The engine combo I built was good for well over 400BHP on stock internals too with a GT3071R turbo or the likes.

The Golf wins everywhere else though, Even in stock form the Golf would run rings around the Saab in the twisties! The Saab had about £2k worth of chassis upgrades....Bilstein B12, Fully polybushed, 22mm Rear ARB, Subframe and Steering rack braces, Race engine and gearbox mounts, Quaife LSD etc but was still shocking. Very badly designed chassis and steering rack which is bulkhead mounted meant epic torque-steer.

Enjoyed my time with the 9-3 and still keep my hand in with Saabs as my friend has 2 breathed on examples, He did all my custom mapping on my cars.

Have you owned all those cars with that age?

This is coming from an almost 33 years old as for me that seems a bit...absurd?

I've driven a fair number of different cars, but they were from my family, friends or rent-a-car.
