Can u beat my mpg.
« on: July 22, 2015, 09:20:01 pm »
Just thought this would be fun and informative to anyone thinking of buying a gti.
My commute to work.
Half a mile on A road.
Then 2 mile on dual carriageway.
Then 2 mile on motorway.
Then 2 mile on A road.
My average mpg in the morning was. 37 mpg.
I know different conditions / roads will give different results.
I was just curios to see what other guys were getting.

Easily done if driven economically. I managed an indicated 46.9 on a 13 mile motorway journey (taken at a very steady 60mph though)

My tank average is 22mpg.....  :driver:

If I averaged mid 30s, I would question why I even own a GTI!

Think my ED30 averages low 20s, I never look.  Not what I bought the car for

I average mid 30's. I like a bit of economy. It's only a breathed on family hatchback at the end of the day. If I didn't care at all about mpg I wouldn't have a 4 pot in the engine bay.

I only ever once got less than 400 miles to a tank on my GTI

I'm getting 720+ on my Scirocco now. And running 14s 1/4 miles.

My best over 300 miles was 41.3MPG I was amazed but I was driving with ecomony in mind.

Round town I get about 25-30MPG and if thrashing this will go to high teens!

I have never known such a car with varied economy. Drive economically and it will reward you greatly, drive like a lunatic and it drinks fuel like an alcoholic!

Had around 45mpg many of times, normally on a 20 mile trip sticking to 60 and just very light throttle coming out of one or two 30 zones in the right gear.

Modern petrols can be great if you want them to be, and 45mpg from a 2.0 turbo hot hatch is crazy. Couldn't pay me to have a mordern diesel

Normally it was around 27-33mpg when pressing on In my gti, I dont really clock my mpg as that's not what I bought it for just sometimes check to be curious but it's good to know if you needed to save some penny's etc you can.
