Audio Setup
« on: August 14, 2015, 09:32:41 pm »
I'm just wondering if anyone can help, I'm getting a golf soon but I want to order some goody's for the car

first i'm thinking about ripping all the stock speakers out and replacing them

I'm hoping to run a 4 channel amp which is going to power two front speakers and possibly some 6 x 9 on the parcel shelf.

Then another mono amp which is going to power my sub also in the boot, so theres a few question i've got i've been planning this in my head so i'm not even sure if its possible

So I would be running a power wire from my battery to a distribution block which would then go to both amps and then with the remote wire i'd just run one from my head unit and then connect both from the amps to that but how would I connect my rca cables when I only have one output  :sad1: my next question is would by stock battery be okay with all this power? and last but no least i need some help finding some new equipment to be honest I don't know nothing about watts and all the other jargon I just know how to connect everything up. I've got a list of parts I need hope you guy can help me find what I need

1. Power Wire from battery, I'm not sure what gage I would require
2. Distribution Connectors and Fuses ect.
3. Replacement Front Speakers for drive side & passenger side (just looking for coaxial speakers)
4. 6 X 9 for the rear parcel shelf. I'm not really sure about watts ect.
5. 4 Channel Amp for front & back (looking for something with enough power to power my speakers)
6. Amp & Sub which just need to have the similar power really

I've not really got a fixed budget but i'm hoping to spend a moderate amount, but I will be buying everything in stages so it would not be an immediate project.

That's what i'm looking for guys hope you guy's can help a noob like myself  :signLOL:

If your buying a new header unit they normally come or pick one with 2 rca..don't put 6x9 in as they look crap cut into a parcel shelf and you won't hear them.Speakers thier is loads of choice focal..Jl..ground zero..If your putting a sub in get a discreet sub box from  eBay. .Have a look in my build thread

Has anyone amped the oem speakers?

In my old mk4 Gti, the speakers had a reputation for actually being pretty good, so I disconnected the rears, ran the fronts on a genesis amp and had a separate genesis mono amp running a JL sub in a custom wheel well enclosure. Sounded pretty good!
