New GTI owner
« on: August 02, 2015, 07:46:36 pm »
Hello everyone!

I picked up my GTI on Friday night and I'm liking it so far!

Has a few rough edges that I need to get resolved however it's only done 69,000 miles.

First thing is Timing belt and water pump (hopefully going in this week at some point), Second is the front arches are starting to go so I need to speak to VW about getting them fixed under warranty and the final thing is I'd like to upgrade the head unit to a RNS-510 but I believe I require a Can-Bus upgrade as my car is a 2005 model. Hopefully someone on the forum will be able to help me with this.

Welcome!   :drinking:
Nice looking black pearl!  :happy2: I've always liked the 3 door version more.

Thanks! I was looking for a 3 door (it's a GTI its gotta be a 3 door, right? ) without a sunroof and lowish mileage, it's not the cleanest car but I'm sure a good detail will do it wonders, however I'm not going to touch the paint until I have a decision from VW about the arches.

u can pick up a pre coded canbus for about £70 on ebay (maybe even on here?), i upgraded from an MFD2 to RNS510 and it's a million times better! Fortunately didn't need the canbus upgrade though :)
