DSG problems after sevice
« on: July 31, 2015, 11:05:24 am »
Morning all
After buying my mk5 dsg I planned on getting it as near to spot on as I could ,along with a list of jobs to get done I also wanted to do preventative work , so after reading many threads on here I decided that a dsg oil and filter change were in order as at 115k and the gearbox being silky smooth I wanted to keep it that way ,anyway £150 lighter I collected the car and drove home it drove the same as it did before the oil change , however after about 4-5miles when the car came to a stop it was a terrible jerk when moving off again , then trying to reverse into the drive was a nightmare, it never did that before so I contacted the garage and they then told me its not recommended to service a high mileage dsg box as this usually happens and the better option is just to wait until it gives up .

Anyone else had this advice ?
They have informed me its not the mech unit that seems to be the common issue but the valve block and surprise surprise the warranty company don't cover that so looks like another 4 figure bill

If thats the case then why did they carry out the work.
Go back and give them hell.

This is one of the worst pieces of advice i have ever read. Is this a VAG specialist, back street Garage or National Chain???

I don't understand this. DSG was perfect before the service?

Maybe they did not add enough fluid or used incorrect fluid??

dont use that garage anymore!
Sounds like they have destroyed your box by using the wrong oil.

I guess there thinking was I was keen to have it done so its a easy £150, they used to be just a VAG specialist but branched out into all German marques now, purely from what I have read on various forums they seem to have a decent reputation and are always busy with some very expensive motors in there, the gearbox was perfect and smooth before the oil change but I wanted it changing for peace of mind , it was the service receptionist who did the booking but a tech who I spoke to when I went back, he did a code scan and said he's seen it a lot after oil changes , as there was no codes etc he confirmed it was the valve block and that's around £1200 fitted as long as the mech unit is OK

Something really stinks here. The garage carries out the service, the DSG no longer works properly and is quoting you £1200 to put it right?!?!?

Might be worth a second opinion before spending any more money with this garage..

It is definitely bollocks!!!!

They have either done something wrong by accident or design.

100k DSG cars don't just f*ck up after a service.

Golf R gone.

I'd be interested to know how a VAG specialist can f*ck up a dsg oil change. This was one of my first DIY's the hardest part was getting the car level on 4 axle stands.

Maybe they ran a calibration on the box and did not complete it??
