Engine Oil Recomendations anyone?
« on: August 02, 2015, 05:57:39 pm »
Approaching a low level of engine oil and im driving it home to scotland on friday (a casual 472 miles!) so im going to do a full oil change this week.

What oil should i buy? i've heard Shell Helix Ultra Professional AG 5W-30 is usually a good bet?

If you do any research at all you'll see the best stuff is 5w40 Millers Nanodrive CFS. If you don't get that, get another 5w40 oil.

I thought it was 5w30 that was recommended for the 2.0T? My car has been serviced with Millers as per Alex at AKS's recommendations. If he recommends it then as far as I'm concerned that is the oil it's meant to have.

Vw recommend a 5w30 but millers nano only comes in 5w40, 40 tends to be better for tuned engines

Its just a way of life.

5w40 is ideally what should have been used from the factory, but some idiot thought that a longlife oil was the way forward.

Alex - for those of us with standard, non-tuned engines, (in my case an ED30), would Castrol Edge 5W40 suffice?
