jetta rns 510
« on: August 06, 2015, 09:38:07 pm »
Hi guys

Im looking to add a rns 510 to my jetta that currently has rcd 300
I have looked at guides which i gather is the same for a jetta

Things i need to look out for is my canbus ill be getting that out to check in the morning,  but is there anything else i need to keep an eye out on?

Also im kinda worried about buying the unit second hand are all rns unit with the star button ver c?

another question i know the canbus if it needs changing has to be coded,  can you do that with the snap on vehicle diagnostics? thats all my bro's garage has

cheers

cant answer any of the other questions but im pretty confident the software coding would have to be via VCDS

If you're worried about battery drain, the newer RNS510s (revision Q, S, R etc) can solve that via a software tweak in the unit itself, so no need to change the gateway.

If you want reversing camera integration and A/C info on the RNS, yeah you'll need a newer gateway.
