Urgent Help Please - Roll Bar Question. (solved)
« on: August 07, 2015, 03:49:32 pm »
I am putting my OEM Rear Roll bar back on (its the OEM 21.7mm bar) I some how lost my OEM bushes a year ago so ordered some new ones.

They arrived today, part number: 1K0 511 327 AS - which VW have confirm is the correct part number for my car.

The problem I am having is they dont fit around the bar, it seems like they are miles off fitting, like you would need a big pair of pliers to get them anywhere near shut.

Has anyone ever had to fit new OEM bushes on their OEM rollbar, should they be super tight? I know they should be snug but not that tight.

Any advise would be great please

Yeap, the mechanic who retrofitted the GTI RARB to my GT Sport had a lot of trouble fitting the bushes. Eventually he made it and all works and looks like it should. :happy2:

He needed the help of a colleague to do it. Not the easiest job. I don't know if there are proper tools to do it easier.

SOLVED - The bushes have a rubber banjo part at the top of the bush. You need to get a set of water pump pliers and squeeze it like hell, eventually the rubber will expand and wrap around the bar. Hard work but thats how to do it if anyone else ever has this problem.
