MOT failure
« on: August 08, 2015, 07:36:59 pm »
Guys just need some help please

I have a 2005 MK5 golf and have a HID kit fitted in.
I took the car to Halfords for an MOT And they have failed it. The mot reports says

Nearside headlamp aim beam image is obviously incorrect
Offside headlamp aim beam image is obviously incorrect

I had MOT test done last year by the same place and I had the same bulbs etc in. I have not changed anything but they have failed it this year. Can anyone advise what I should do? I really don't know.

Many thanks

Bit strange if you haven't changed the bulbs but they have failed but try putting new bulbs in.When I used hid kit the beam pattern was all over the place so I took them back out.
Or put the original bulbs back in to get a mot first

Isnt Aim Beam the direction / pattern it has to make on the test wall.

Because HIDs dont have self leveling and over a year of hitting pot holes and speed bumps they may be way of the correct position to pass an MOT.

It's not the level that it's failed on it's the pattern.
Make sure bulbs are in right way round of they are just fit some standard bulbs and try that.
