No, but I am going to! I have VWR springs already (a great upgrade to the OEM set-up), but my OEM Sachs dampers have recently given signs of being a bit tired (vague wandering at speed, little rebound, unequal compression across the car), so I knew I had to upgrade.
I was in a similar boat to you - I didn't want coilovers on my daily driver, and didn't want original dampers again.
I read the B8's are a good match for most lowering springs, and are the same dampers as supplied on the B12 Pro kit. I read pages after pages of stuff on VWVortex about Mk6 dampers vs. Mk5 - my conclusion was that the mk6 may be softer, but by only 10-15%, and I reckon you'd never know the difference unless you tried both.
I've gone for the Mk5 versions of the B8's as so few people on here piped up to say they run mk6 versions.
I'm just waiting for the B8 dampers to get to APS, and a date for fitting. Will let you know what I think...
