Brakes for stage 2+ ??

Bit of a late reply, but agree with a few posts here. Each to their own for sure, but why boost your car up before knowing it can stop properly 
I've always felt the brakes on my ED30 are the worst point of the car, even in standard trim.

£300-£350 for a used R32/S3/TTS set-up is good value, IMHO. I remember when R32/TT3.2 front brakes were going for about £500 on the mkiv platform. Discs for the mkiv R32 were very expensive for the time - I have a receipt here for £130 per side (I think - they were floating discs off the RS4 of the time...). Loved one of my earliest ebay days when I won a genuine bargain of a new OEM disc for £16... I must say, the full R32 set-up on my mkiv 1.8t felt great. 

Next Friday I will have a set of TTS calipers, 340mm brembo front discs, DS2500 front pads & full R32 rear set-up fitted.
Will post up my thoughts then on how they slow down an otherwise standard powered ED30...

I'm assuming a set of TTRS brakes on the standard 370mm disks and decent pads is still a bad setup due to the disks warping? Or am I wrong? ...

Its not a bad setup at all but if you really push it/ track it there is a chance they'll warp on you. The reason I went for the 340 discs is because adaptors + discs cost the same as a set of TTRS discs anyways and are much cheaper to replace so was an easy choice for me.

Suppose that makes sense. I'm looking to buy a TTRS kit that I can just bolt on, and the bigger the better in terms of looks running 19's anyway so need to fill the space. What's a good upgrade for the rear, R8 rears looks good, like 356mm. Any need to upgrade the master cylinder?

@Chris92 I don't think you 'need' to do it but to get the most out of it you should. However of its more of an aesthetics upgrade and won't be used on track then it should be fine without an MC upgrade.

I still wonder why not more people here fit Brembos 18Z or 17Z with 6 pots. With the right wheel they don't even require spacers. The price is similar to a TTRS set but the adaptors are much cheaper.

I think its because they're 6 pots instead of 4 so there's some concern about spongey pedal feel and not wanting to have to do a MC upgrade.

Yeah, it was my guess too. My Ed. 30 improved its pedal feel so it's easier to brake smoother now for what my mechanic told me. Before the pedal didn't have almost any travel. For what I've seen searching ETKA my Ed. 30 should have the bigger MC, like the R32, so it's perfectly fine.

Any R32, mk6 GTI and R20 has the bigger MC, but not all mk5 GTI got it, for what I've found online. Anyone who has the bigger MC can do it without worries.

My friend with a mk5 GTI APR Stage 3 from 2007 has the full Cayenne Turbo/Q7/Touareg setup and he does complain a bit about the pedal travel. The car brakes well, it just doesn't recover completely after repeated use.

It'd be worth checking which MC the car has fitted to choose which setup to go for.

I bought them from a company on eBay who specialise in caliper refurbs, core supplies I think, I paid £350 delivered .They  are available in a range of colours and decals
