Heated door mirrors.
« on: December 17, 2009, 07:53:16 pm »
I'm pretty shure these came as standard ?. I f so do they work only when the heated rear window is on ? or are they on as soon as the key is turned ?.
Reason i ask is we had snow today & driving home(only 7 miles) i noticed the drivers door mirror was clear but passenger side still had snow on it.Just wondered if it was due to the way i had parked or there was a fault on the passenger door mirror. Thanks in advance.  :happy2:

top right is the heated mirror, top left is folding, if you have heated it will be tht logo on its own at the top (if you dont have folding)

even if its not frosted if its reasonably cold you can sometimes see the steam come off them when on

The heated mirrors were standard on every golf. They are on all the time but it's best not to as it can damage something (not sure what) and it's expensive to replace. That's why from MY05 or 06 there was an option 'o' which left them off and the heated symbol which turned them on.

Nasir - dont think they are on all time, only when the rear window demister is on. Leave mine in the on position all the time but they're not always on, if ya get my drift

I think if you have it switched on it's on , rear demister on or not, iirc they work depending on the ambient temp
