I currently have my Mk2 GTi & Mk5 Jetta. Neither of which does what I need them to!
So I started looking at cars that would cover the following requirements:-
Fast - VW - carry 5 of us plus dog - roof bars/box easily available - Sub £10K
Obviously i started looking at MK5 GTi/Ed30/Pirelli/R32's They would be an obvious step up from the Jetta. Plus I like how they go/stop/handle with a few subtle tweaks.
But all of the ones i've looked at locally are over priced junk, or have huge mileage - So i started looking further a field and almost bought an ex-police Superb V6 3.6.
But in the end I settled on this...........

I paid less than £4k for it. Its a 3.2 V6 DSG 4motion (Think of it as a mk5 R32 in a business suit!) The only options missing are the Xenon's, PDC & Sunroof. But to does come with flappy paddles.
Already fitted my stereo, wheels & had a custom exhaust made for it... Lots more to do as/when i sell my jetta & my Mk2. I maybe looking into a turbo or a charger....
-
Can't be many better ways of hauling people around for less than 4k. Certainly got a bit of sleeper about it too.
Charge it and surpass the R36 ;-)

An R32 shooting Brake
A rare car by all reality. I like these, cool engine in a wagon.
I was in Sydney (Aus) last month and there's loads of these and more R36's than I've ever seen in the UK :happy2: It's a petrol haven over there.
Enjoy the soundtrack :happy2:

Selling my mk5 & mk2 will free up funds for more mods....
Just over 300 of these on the roads. Going to fit a few upgrades to the interior & exterior (mainly upgrade bits from other VW models) but induction kit (maybe Forge) is next on the list.
-
I think it needs a supercharger bolted to it :driver:
-
Nice, what a bargain as well. Never knew these even existed.
If you're choosing between supercharger and Turbocharger from what I've heard turbos are better, superchargers are supposed to be a bit of a let down for what they cost.
-
I'm going to start with the chassis & replace bushes, droplinks, top mounts, Spring, shocks etc. Then brakes. Dsg remap, a few styling parts - then onto the power mods....
-
Front end all polybushed - much better.
DSG Mechatronic cover is going rusty - so ordered a replacement one (no splash guard in place & didnt want to put a hole in it!)
Induction kit on next to enjoy the V6 howl....
-
Nice! Can't wait to see what you do with this :)
-
Just fitted a set of custom made LED indicator units with built in DRL's - I love cool little touches like that..
First few bits from Forge arrived along with a few other tastey goodies! Angry Snail FTW....
-
Those wheels look great!! :happy2:
-
Hilariously cheap!! Respect mate look forward to seeing what you do.

A nice man from UPS brought me 3 nice big boxes from Canada....

The box says "HPA" on it :notworthy:
-
Was looking at these a while back, was plenty too choose from, now there's only 4 on the trader??? The hpa upgrade will serve it well! I'm swinging about wether or not to SC mine, there's a manual R32 for sale on the other forum buuut its a manual :scared:
-
Hope so - they cost enough....
-
HPA controller going in over Christmas Holidays (booked 2 weeks off while kids on school holidays - grandparents roped into looking after them for 10 days of the 14 ive booked holidays for!!!!!!!!0
Needs a new idler pulley as bearing in old one knackered, dsg sump rusty - so bought a replacement sump, filter & fluid. Also doing a Haldex service...
Eibach springs ordered, Koni shocks.... Now to pick some wheels!
-
New/old wheels.... I have a set of Merc Split rims already - I ran them on the Jetta I have too. They are 8.5x18 et 35 - currently have tyres on them. I refurbed them myself last time. But want a professional job this time so i'm looking for someone to do them for me... Want all the bolts removed, diamond cut dish and centres painted in a certain colour, and then new gold bolts put in them.... ;)
-
Abs/tcs & hill hold not working..... Oh sh*t!!! :driver: :driver:
-
Haldex controller has gone bye bye!
-
This looks fantastic! Such an underrated vehicle in this guise! Bet it sounds good with the exhaust!
-
Haldex now fixed & new mods on route! Wheels are going to be a set of BBS RWII with Porsche brown centres. Chrome is going mattblack. Lows courtesy of AP coilovers....
