I am a big Pirelli PZero Rosso fan since I owned a Volvo S60R that had them fitted. I liked their grip, their performance in wet and dry conditions and the solid feel in the tyre sidewall - just a brilliant tyre.
In August this year I wanted two new tyres for the front on the GTI, I was looking high and low for the Pzero Rosso to replace what I had on the front (and also on the rear) and failed. I contacted the tyre shop and they confirmed that the Rosso was discontinued....bugger. The replacement was the PZero which I ordered two and had them fitted. Then about a week later had my Bilstein B12's fitted and Powerflex bushes on the front replaced along with 4WA.
But 5 months on and about 4-5K later I have 2mm left on the front. So I presume that Pirelli have made the replacement to the Rosso softer.
Has anybody noticed this? I am thinking about jumping to Conti's next as the PZero Nero GT does not seem to get good reviews?

yep, i'm also going through p-zeros quicker than i would like to! wouldn't recommend them!

I use P-Zero's also and although I do go through them quicker I have to say I get much more grip.
I've weighed up and figured I might get 3 months more out of another tyre but will lose some grip in the wet!

Did you get the car aligned afterwards?
I can get 35-40k from a pair of tyres... even with drag days/trackdays etc.

35-40k?
Mine last about 6k if I'm lucky

35-40K kilometres? That's outstanding! On the fronts with P-Zero?

Miles.
I havent ever had new P Zeros.
Had them pre-owned. Didn't like them.
That milage was from a Goodyear Eagle f1 asy2
That is a complete set mind, I swapped them half way round, bit misleading when I said "pair" haha
Still 15-20k aint bad.

The car was aligned a week after having tyres fitted, due to new suspension. Then a week after that I had to have something changed, so another alignment was carried out. Then I had the front bushes replaced and had it 'badly aligned' at the specialist. Then had it professionally aligned at work for a Hunter Hawkeye Elite. Since then the car had been driving straight and true.
I am glad I am not the only one that is going through PZeros quickly.

If you're looking to try a different tyre, eagle F1's as mentioned are a great tyre, also worth a look are conti sportcontact 5's. Seem to be cleaning up in various tyre tests.

I have tried GY Eagle F1 Assy 2 and hated them - they where squidgy and felt like I was driving on air. No feel at all, so I changed them back to Pirelli's after about 5-6k miles. I have read other people comment the same with those GY's.

Maybe it depends on the car then, but I love them on my Rs4, haven't tried them on the golf.
Over on the rs246 forum everyone hates pirellis, and loves eagle f1's, conti sp 5's and Michelin pilot sports.
