Title: Recommended panel filter before stage 1?
Post by: Bigjimknickers on January 29, 2016, 09:18:55 am
Just wondered if R Tech had a particular favourite panel filter they recommend, or does it not matter between ITG, k&N piper cross, vwR?

Looking at just panel filter, pre cat delete & custom tune. :happy2:

I was chatting to them last week about this, and they said a panel filter "might help a bit", whereas a full intake would be much better.

I'm heading down after I get the Powervalve turbo back fitted for a map tweak in a few weeks, which doesn't really give me enough time to research and sort an intake; so I'm just going to stick with the oem filter and see how it copes.

I'm not really after a CAI anymore, I'm going for the stealth mods  :happy2:
Looks like there's nothing in it, I just didn't want to waste money on a particular type that is rubbish!

Yeah I get the impression the best gains come from freeing up the exhaust side rather than the intake side.

If I ever decide to go k04 or hybrid k03 then I'll certainly look at a good intake, along with intercooler and fuel pump, as flow gets more important the more power you chase. I reckon until then a k03 car wouldn't get the full benefit of an intake anyway.

Iv fitted a less restrictive pipercross foam filter to my mk2 Cupra, I gained the tiniest little bit of induction note over the standard oem filter. The foam filter is notably thinner for what that's worth .....
