Its personal preference. You'd need to drive a DSG and decide if its for you.

(I love my DSG :happy2:)

Got a manual now and if I were to buy one again, I'd go DSG!

Obviously the manual is mechanically far simpler and therefore more reliable, but when you factor in the cost of a clutch / new DMF for remaps, it kind of balances out (DSG doesn't need that doing).   DSG is far better in traffic too.  Uprated clutches in the manual are annoying in traffic and not as smooth to pull away.

I'd get the DSG remapped too, to remove the upshift when using the paddles.  Pain in the rump when you want to hang onto the revs.

i got a DSG its so nice to traffic and still good fun to stick the pedal to the floor and go for it.  as said obviously it requires a bit more maintenance and potential mechatronics failure.. but i personally think its worth it

I have a manual and will be looking at DSG for the next car. Worth trying a dsg car to see if you like it.

I have DSG and my next car will be DSG (or similar). I love it.

Definitely try one as it's not for everyone, but I love mine.

I find dsg very boring  :indifferent:  :indifferent:  :indifferent: only thing I like is the burp sound on up shift. Cars these days just about drive them selves so why take the last bit of driving engagement away? I felt like a spare part driving a dsg.

I only use paddle shifts (and Sport mode on track). Drive mode is too boring.

When I looked for a Gti the best advice I came across was if you buy a car with a full warranty, buy a dsg, if it's got no warranty buy a manual.

I bought a manual.

& a warranty! :rolleye:
