Am about to remove the cover on the boot lid as I suspect I have a breakage in the wiring ..any tips to make this as easy as poss please

There's a cover at the bottom of the boot lid to gain access to the emergency release trigger to open the boot if that helps?.

Already found that and am in  just really need know best place to look but I suspect it will be either left or right hand side of the boot lid ...in the rubber bits that adhere to the boot lid

Yes left rubber grommet I think. if not check the other side :signLOL:

Very common fault mate. It will most probably be the left conduit between your boot and body. You'll find some wires have snapped in there. Best thing is to solder in some new wire, in order to give it some slack and prevent it happening again. Just be sure to join them together well, using one of many methods, i.e heat shrink, crimping etc.

Thanks not yet had chance to get in and see but I do know the boot panel has been off as there are no screws holding it on !......I finish work early tomorrow so unless it's raining that's my job for the day

Update......wiring was too broken in too many places to fix having had previous rubbish repairs so I have bitten the bullet and got a new wiring loom, the fact that the panel had no screws in should have given me a clue
So I now have everything working as it should :P

Well done and thanks for updating :happy2:

Actually I forgot to put the part # and cost
V1k6 971 147h 190810/harness ........£70.80 + vat
V000 979 940 connector ........£3.81 + vat
Not as expensive as I was expecting and no worries as it's nice to have a conclusion update

That's okay for the price and assurance it won't snap again anytime soon. :happy2:
