Title: eBay Air Intake
Post by: 1.8T Chap on May 22, 2016, 06:26:12 pm
Hi, has anyone any experience of one of these, seems decent for the money?

Thanks.

It's a pipe and filter so I wouldn't say there'll be any issues and I'm sure it will have decent suction and noise to keep you smiling

You'll need two reducers to fit this to the car.

I had one of those alloy pipes. I gave the filter away and brought a ram air filter for it. Ended up selling it before I got a chance to fit it.

I think it would give a loud sound as the airflow would echo a bit.

think of the alloy intake pipes that we all used to run on the 18T engines that went to the lower vents. would sound something like that id imagine

The 1.8T is a beast for mods as I loved my tt 225 remapped with Badger 5 tip that helped loads with intake.
I left mine open in the engine bay and can guarantee it was for the better for the 1.8T with no restrictions holding it back.

I've git one if those pipes of ebay and love it. I've had a few years now, and the price of the filters are a bargain so u get a new filter every year to keep it looking new fir the shows.

It just sounds like you have a boost leak when throttle down or coming off :signLOL:

I would say pay the extra and get the RamAir oversized intake. That one stays at the smaller ID throughout which wont help matters.... All of the decent flowing in takes that make the numbers increase in size from MAF to filter and come with a decent heat shield.... This one doesn't
