Title: Help me choose... BCS Prestige or Sports system
Post by: PhilNUK on May 28, 2016, 09:12:04 am
Finally going to take the plunge and get a full system on the ed30...

I have been pinging Nigel e-mails and he's been great with feedback..

Just asking on here who system people have gone with.  My milltek is non res as I didn't want a system which was just as quiet as stock

I see the prestige is the refined quieter one but is it THAT quiet that I might wish I had gone for the sports one after a while? I don't want daft noise...  Just a nice deep burble pottering about and a lovely growl when opened up..

Just wondering feedback on people who got a BCS and which system they opted for...

Cheers

3 base line choices now...
Prestige 6.00" front silencer Sensible sound upgrade with full power potential
Sport 5.00" front silencer More overt sound upgrade with full power potential
WRC front silencer delete full on sound upgrade with full power potential

Split across Powervalve and non powervalve variants with choice of Typhoon or Lightning trim option or R32 style.

I went for the Sport Powervalve (R32 style). It's tasteful and refined when you're doing town driving, and sounds pretty much how you described it. You get all the burbles and grumbles on the over run but it's not at all ott. It's deep, but with a 'soft edge' to the note, if that makes any sense.

It's noticably deeper than the stock system, but in a way that you don't feel like you're attracting attention rolling through town.

On boost going through the gears it's a different thing completely.

I did consider the quieter Prestige option, but I'm glad I went with Sport. I'd imagine Nige could swap over the silencers either way if you feel you want it louder or quieter after a while.

I also went for the Sport Powervalve full system - the best of both worlds in my opinion. AJP has covered the details on this one and I couldn't agree more.

Either way, with a full system (whichever you choose), I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed. It'll make you grin every time you get into the car and you'll be looking for excuses to take it on long stretches where you can put your foot down to hear the noise (it's very addictive).

cheers for the replies guys

The sport really appeals to me and its good that there is no drone as I do some long journeys often

I currently have the non res Milltek cat back been pricing up a sports cat and they are coming in at £500+ and then after some contact with Nige and watching some youtube clips I convinced myself to just go full system rather than half Milltek and half BCS....

I will sell the Milltek on here or ebay when the BCS has been fitted.

I'm in a similar situation of not exactly knowing what to go for.

Reading the above I'd say it would be the Sports system over the Prestige with the Lightning series tail pipes.
Not sure if I would go Powervalve or non Powervalve??

I think I'm going to get Nige to quote me on,
(MK6 Golf R 2011)

3 inch Down pipe and decat then Sports system with and without Powervalve options.

Is the system all 3 inch or does it go down to 2.75 inch after the cat (cat delete)??
Everyone I've spoken to says the BCS system is loads better than the Milltek.

What's the best email to contact Nige on?

Hi as others have said from your description of what you would like the sport system is the way to go I am really pleased with mine and I was a bit concerned about it being to loud but in my opinion it is just right

Definitely Sport Powervalve...I had a 7 hour journey there and back and I found at motorway speeds, the powervalve was quieter than stock!  But it did draw some unwanted attention launching away from the M6 toll pay booths...

I too went for sport powervalve, you won't be disappointed! but have since went for a wrc front pipe to gain some loud dsg farts! Contemplating putting the sport silencer back in and getting a decat to replace the sports cat to see if that gives the same dsg farts, but less noise that having no front silencer gives

I've just fitted the Sports Powervalve today actually, couple of photos and a video on my build thread.

100% not quieter than OEM at steady pace or when ticking over, it's a bit louder than OEM, has a nice burble sound.
Put your foot down and then it's fairly loud.

Glad I chose the Sports over Prestige.

Popped to BCS this evening to chat with Nigel...  Great set up he has there and a top fella....

Decided on the prestige full system with the sports cat and lightning tips after chatting to him about the options

Can't wait now!

Il be looking to order a system for my car in the next few weeks hopefully. sports powervalve is the one I want however I already have a decat  and pretty sure read somewhere the power valve only comes as a full system which is out of my budget at the moment.

does anyone have just a bcs sports system non power valve that can tell me what its like?

I am having a BCS sports prestige (non power valve) system fitted at AKS at the moment. Haven't heard it yet so can't tell you what it sounds like (collecting tomorrow) but one of my worries is that it will be too loud.

I like my ed30 because it flies under the radar and doesn't attract too much attention. I spoke to Nige at BCS and it is possible to buy the powervalve rear silencer and connect to my already fitted BCS decat + downpipe. Price was very reasonable so I may well take him up on the offer.

What's the feedback on the prestige system, I do about 25k a year so don't want drone or too loud, or too teenager-y when pulling out of customer sites

I have the Prestige system and for me the exhaust is loud enough. I do have to open a window if I want to hear it at its best. No drone and AFAIK any BCS exhaust with a silencer doesn't drone.

No drone on the Sport (valved version) either. Although now I've removed the parcel shelf it's certainly quite loud and angry when you're on boost. Just how I like it! It's probably quieter with the window open now in fact

Not sure if it's been covered in this thread, but I'm sure Nige can fit a bespoke size middle silencer - you could have it quiter than Prestige if you wanted.

I fitted 200 cell turbo back prestige system and its slightly louder than standard but on boost it sounds much louder .its an amazing quality exhaust.

I'm the guy who originally set up the thread and got nothing but praise for the prestige powervalve with the sports cat...  Really pleased with the sound. No drone at all and can drive casually and it's kept to a minimum, but when  you boot it it opens up and sounds perfect for me...  I live in a fairly quiet area and am 39 years old and got kids who travel in the car with me a lot so the last thing I wanted was daft noise or drone....  But no drone at all and a gorgeous noise whenever I fancy opening  it up...  The guys there are brilliant and will ask what it is you want from the system and then advise and you sound like you are after what I asked for from them and they recommended I get the prestige...  I worried it might be too quiet but I'm happy I went for this now
