Title: Handbrake rattle
Post by: theminty1 on June 09, 2016, 09:23:58 am
As above a really quite annoying rattle buzzing sound from the handbrake lever. If you push the lever slight to the side it stops. Anyone have a fix........apart from turning the music up louder
I do have the plastic lever trim off and can see the spring etc, just looking for a tried and tested solution

I had this and found a fix on another forum, the fix as I remember was to thread a piece of sponge or dishcloth type material between the spring and the metal post it coils around.

I used a piece maybe 5mm wide, this stops the spring knocking on the metal post.

Over the weekend had a look at this. Applied loom tape around the plastic sleeve the goes between the aluminium handbrake lever and the sleeve as it rattled, so not around the actual button itself. Applied 3 bits of acoustic cloth  (read anything you can get your paws on) between the handbrake cutouts such that it applies gentle pressure on the long spring that is used for the button. Now sweet. Well pleased
Thanks lads
