I'm loving that grey one - Especially the first pic - Absolutely stunning! :notworthy:
Carbon bonnet?
-
Love the grey one!!!!! Talk to me about your stance? What have you used to lower it, and are you using spacers?
Think the plate doesn't look completely right on the bluey/greeny one, makes it look like a rabbit with its teeth out (or was that the desired effect due to the connection between the Golf and the Rabbit?). Then again, on the subject of front numberplates who am I to talk!

thanks a lot for the good comments guys :happy2:
no carbon bonnet yet but it is on my wish list
its just lowered on fk coilovers and the huffs are actually reps so wider ( 8x18 ), did have originals but wasnt happy as i thought they looked too skinny imo
huffs are only winter wheels , got a couple of wheels on my wish list so i'll see how it pans out
again thanks for the positive comments :drinking:

Thanks peeps :happy2:
Yeah pro race 1.2s
-
looks stunning fella :happy2:
-
rubber toe, your car looks fantastic. Nice pics as well. Are the wheels on yours original detroits or Monza's II's you got powder coated.....? Thanks MAW73
-
Thanks guys
Wheels are replica monzas 8x18 powder coated black , did have original monzas 18" but just didn't fill the arches enough for my liking so went for the wider reps :happy2:
-
looks Nice mate, whats the off set on the 1.2 s ? :happy2:
-
Cheers bud , think their et 45
-
Very nice, like these alot :happy2:
-
on spot
-
Are you getting any rubbing on the new wheels at that ride height mate, I'm thinking of getting a set. Have you tucked up the arch liner ? Also did you notice a differance in handeling or acceleration with the lighter wheels
Cheers !
-
Are the monza reps for sale??
-
Also did you notice a differance in handling or acceleration with the lighter wheels?
....You'll always notice a marked difference with significantly lighter weight wheels. It's because the mass rolling weight is reduced. You will feel much more steering feedback - It's a great mod if you're into achieving good handling (missed by too many folks imo). Slippery slope of modding...............
-
well had a mishap last year :ashamed:

excuse the crappy iphone pics
not 100% on the exhaust fitment as i might still adjust it back a bit (altho the pics are after some "spirited driving") and still got a bit of tidying up to do on the back end.
Overall happy with the way its turned out :jumpmove:
-
My r32 milltek exhaust sat like that, loosen the clamp between the centre section and the downpipe/milltek connecting pipe and tap the whole thing back with a rubber mallet. Loosen the rear section clamp and tap the tailpipes up to sit closer to the bumper :happy2:
-
.
Black real carbon with Steel Grey looks great  - Did you get your Seibon here in the UK or from across the pond?
That sticky plaster 'X' is brilliant! :notworthy:
-
Echo what RR said. Fantastic :notworthy:
-
Ohhhhh that carbon bootlid looks the bolloc*s how much was that??
-
still hard as f*** mate
love it
:happy2:

ran out of time today so ill need to do some adjustments next week.

-
wow. stunning job mate looks great!!
and i luuuurve carbon lol...
matsu
-
Any plans to paint it?
I am a big fan of carbon, but don't like the thought of having large panels that don't match, Or if you left a centre strip in carbon?
Did you get the R32 US style bumper from VW? if so how much did you pay for it as I have toyed with getting one sorted.
Also had the Milltek R32 style exhaust, and hated the fact the backbox hung so low, so much so that when I had the FK coilovers on I was scooping up empty beer cans on the way to work one day by accident!
-

That's the moneyshot right there, that's a rear end to die for, really good looking :congrats:
Are you planning to leave it in carbon?
Also i'm very interested in hearing your thoughts on fitment, and day to day use of it. Have you fitted shocks that are weaker than stock? Have you sounddampened it??
Again a great looking rear end

Big al - not planning on painting it as I like the slight contrast, altho not sure if I would do it if my car was a lighter colour.
The plan is to get the grill, bonnet, exhaust surround and wing mirrors carbon too and a darker or carbon roof, but right now my bank says no :sad1:
Pretty sure the exhaust was originally yours too Al ,Think you sold it to tonygti
there's a can shaped dent on the back box aswell
Danishmkvgti - the fitment isn't a 100% but I can easily live with it as I'm not overly picky , was disappointed tho as the high level brake light doesn't fit at all !!! I wasn't planning on getting a carbon spoiler but it is now a must :chicken:
I haven't fitted any sound Damping or the interior boot panel and I personally don't think the cabin noise has increased that much , no change to the shocks either altho when you push the handle you have to step back quick or you'll get a face full of bootlid :rolleye: don't actually use my boot that much so right now it works for me

Looks awesome! Love the carbon and the American spec rear bumper, always looking for them but they don't come up often. Did you buy ures from vw mate? Pm me if u want.
-
THIS CAR IS BLOODY LOVELY!!! wish i had the money!! top work!

Looks awesome. I was thinking carbon roof and bonnet would make it all looks so much better.

Hi RT, looks luvly, did you notice what the weight differrence was? It must fly up, mine comes up pretty fast and I've only taken out the Washer/Wiper & inner panel.
I was looking at these just for weight saving but I think I'd be better off saving weight at the front as the backs empty anyway. Carbon roof saves 10kg from Performance Trim but not sure what it looks like on the inside (no roof linning!), and carbon wings which are 10mm wider.
Neil :happy2:

^^^^
Have you got carbon wings, Neil?
-
Lovin it matey, you knew i would tho!!! Such a good look. Hopefully get a look at it in the flesh soon. Stevie. :happy2:

Not to sure on the weight saving on the boot but I do know from lifting both without rear screen it was considerably lighter.
Yeah seen performance trim have the roof for sale , pretty sure they made the original for a guy called lomax whose White gti was featured in pvw and also had all the roof lining etc still in place
Fancy getting the carbon wings just for the extra clearance but think I would paint the wings
Thanks for positive comments guys :happy2:

....Group Buy? - That's what I'm gonna do when funds allow. I'm gonna paint mine but leave the carbon showing through a 'GTI' logotype like Jake has done the '.:R' on his carbon wings.
-
Yeah Jakes wings are
Slightly concerned about fitment issues considering how much they cost :scared: :scared:

Not yet RR but they are on my list if I go wider wheels on the front :happy2:

....My concern is how they fit with the OEM arch liners (I'm still waiting for a pic of yours, Jake, to show inside the wheel arch. I'm confident that my usual bodyshop can sort something if needed.

Does Jake have a ride / build thread? Sounds

Rubber toe, with the boot strut being overly strong for your new light weight boot lid, why dont you change the coding for the rear boot release to unlock and release the locking mechanism think that should get you the full remote boot release to open, might save you a dentistry bill from a boot lid upper cutt! :happy2:
-
Yeah sounds like a good plan Rich :happy2:
Altho not overly bothered about the boot as I've opened it about 3 times in the last 2 months...
As the for the my dentist bill , too late lol
