Title: eBay "Induction Kit"
Post by: GtiKris on July 01, 2016, 05:52:04 pm
Hi guys,

Just bought this kit of eBay - it was cheap and good-ish looking.

I was after induction sound without spending lots of money. Also wanted to keep the engine covered.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftt159%2Fkrzysiekring%2F20160701_151701.jpg&hash=9de8e02a4f72ad7aa6a2a22e7fd5443747d90eb7)

Question is - will installing it this way and removing panel filter (so the air box is still there but nothing in it) cause any issues?

Only real way to know is to try it tbh. Looks okay.

Yes I know... already did it lol

Seems ok tbh...

Car picks up bit higher in revs.

Sound... hmmm... not much difference there, apart from a little whistle in the low rpm range. I guess its not a proper induction kit ;(

Sorry??? picks up higher revs??? Do you means it sounds like it's revving alot more than usual??? or as in picks up speed?

No, I mean it pulls/accelerates later in revs.

Where before it pulled nice in region of 2.2 k, now it is more 3k revs?

I have a dsg 55 reg and when I fitted an induction kit in it would rev high and kick in late as if I had a clutch slip and couldn't fathom it out so returned back to ugly box and all is well again. wanted to keep the kit badly but I got P***** off with it and sold it off for £130 lol neuspeed P-flow pipe and Ramair huge filter sounded awesome too. Darth vadar style  :signLOL:

Might get mine back to stock box.

Really wanted that induction noise... but do I really benefit with stock car?

Any other way you can hear turbo/induction noise more?

There is but I wouldn't recommend it as I bought a blow off valve that fits before the DV and that gives off a psssssht whooosh sound but was told not to do it as it will cause issues so got a GFB valve instead. Is yours a manual transmission?

Its manual...

I had a S14 SX200 before and it was very easy to get it sound cool. Cone filter, blow off valve and off you goooo.  Bit different with VW ;-)

I hate the gti as I had a tt before this and it was a beast. 80mm Badger 5 turbo rip, cone filter and away you go. whoosh whoosh and more bhp too proven. This dsg is a pain in the  :booty: but soon to have an exhaust filter kit fmic upgrade hpfp upgrade dependent on seller, possible S3 injectors and a stage 2 if all goes well

Bloody hell mate... sounds like big upgrade :) Good luck with that!

Not saying it is a bad car... more civilised I think is the word. Different with the way it delivers power. SX was like... nothing, nothing, nothing and booom it goes :) fun!!! GTI is more obvious, controlled.

Got it to accomodate the family ;) And it fits good...

My old mates had a few s13's and one had the s14 and they are 200 bhp fun motors to drive as we started modyfing them with induction and fmic parts but then I cut them off as they were evil barstuards and I'm lucky I realised lol

I also got the golf to accommodate family and it's not a great car imho as I was going for the R but people let me down and I got desperate for no apparent reason  :slap: :slap: for me. I love my quattro cars.

Don't need injectors until going for a much bigger turbo

Bloody hell me too and same with my wife  :signLOL: I nearly bought an EVOVlll but insurance pissed me about and I should have gone with a different company as I would have been driving an EVO with £400 fully comp.
