Hello. Looking at getting a stage 1 map on my ED30. Any recommendations? I know R-tech are highly recommended but i think i've got more chance of winning the lottery then getting booked in there. Location isn't an issue i'm willing to travel. Thanks in advance for any input.

Just a case of waiting a few weeks for R-Tech. Although if you don't want to wait...
Unicorn
Shark
Revo
APR

Book a custom map at R-Tech.......
.........and the wait will be worth it.

All the brands listed above are reputable. Obviously R-Tech have a more personal touch & get great reviews, however the best selling points for R-Tech are:
- free switchable mapping (5 maps switchable with pedal combinations)
- free traction control mapping (makes traction control actually help you get traction)
- hard cut limiter
- launch control mapped in
- patented TIV mapping which uses VVT to aid turbo spool & gives smoothest graphs without ECU torque intervention.

I'm booked in august 23. its like christmassssss. 300+ club here i come. :jumping:

Phone them a good 4 weeks before your brakes and suspension are finished!

Word of warning, Don't lower the car too much as I think R-Tech have issues with lowered cars on their Rolling Road.
I have been down twice now and have been asked about the ride height on both my cars!

Anything down to 40mm or so is fine.
I'm guessing they may have had one or two problems with slammed cars in the past!

Lots of good tuners around. Pay your money, take your choice.
Ive had good experiences with Revo but Rtech are doing some brilliant work imo.

I was lucky in that JKM are less than 15 mins away. This means all my support/servicing/repairs and tuning is in one place.
I have a Revo stage 2 map which may err on the conservative side compared to others but I've never had any issues after numerous track days and considerable time since the work was carried out. No, it's not a custom map but Revo have left safe margins in place which serve to protect hardware. I'm comfortable with that.
It's important/useful to find someone you trust and having a one stop solution from someone like JKM can potentially save many headaches. Their advice in hardware, tuning and handling has always been spot on.
I'm sure there are other garages like them; they actively explore options and developments for the VAG group cars, their own development work is very interesting. More recently the Syvecs ECU upgrade the Octavia has has re-writes the rule book for 500+ bhp FWD cars.
They're here this weekend: http://www.beachbuggin.co.uk/ (http://www.beachbuggin.co.uk/)
20% of Revo maps available during the show :happy2:
Also had some track tuition from Jim at Goodwood which was money well spent

Your lucky to have a Revo dealer that are also competent in suspension mods too. There's only a handful of well recommended specialists on here (JKM, AKS etc)
Revo is more conservative than Superchips, that's for sure - superchips think its acceptable to ask for 110% duty from the turbo :rolleye: Revo is an aggressive map in its delivery with the huge torque hit upon turbo spool and boosting hard through the turbo's surge zone, although to a lesser degree than Superchips. . .
I think all tuners leave the safe margins in terms of fuelling & boost - it's huge torque spikes that bend rods, I know that are Revo don't push as hard as APR, the v3.4 map has caused a few issues on customers cars. R-tech make power with as little boost as possible, focusing on using the engines VVT to spool the turbo rather than just dumping boost, that's why R-Tech's graphs show more mid-range than some competitors.
It's a shame Revo haven't advertised themselves well on the R-OC, as APR are apprearing as the more popular brand.
