Title: Advice needed
Post by: GTI_Kyle on August 19, 2016, 01:34:07 pm
Considering getting rid of my mk5 GTI DSG for a Leon cupra. A mate is selling one stage 2 rtech, uprated clutch & a few K1 bits on it, also the interior has been done out so doesn't look so plain & boring. The car itself is mint with only 72k.

My GTI is stage 2, but is getting on a bit now with nearly 153k, however its still going strong, but will I miss DSG too much? He's wanting mine and a fair bit of cash.

What are peoples opinions on this? Anyone done a similar move?

Is the leon K04?

I guess the biggest change will be the DSG or Manual. I wouldnt let thew mileage of the GTI put you off though. as long as its maintained it will be fine

Yea KO4 BWJ engine running 330bhp, my GTI has been maintained well & still pulls like a train. The leon is in better condition though.

Hmmm, i think only you can decide. also depends on how much he wants ontop.

K04 swap can be done for not alot of money now. Drive both and see which you feel you want more

Been considering a BBT hybrid but its putting a lot of strain & power through a higher mileage car that's all, plus a BWJ is stronger to start with.

Just trying to find someone who's owned both who can give me their opinion

@dansmith180 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9450)

Went from hybrid to k04.
eitherway I think you'll be save. its all down to the mapping and delivery. There is people running alot more power at higher mileage with no problems.

My hybrid K03 ate my engine but honestly I don't think it had much left in it anyways. I'd rather have the Cupra but really its a personal decision I think

Why would you prefer the cupra mate?
