Title: Speaker upgrade?
Post by: Jayy26 on September 09, 2016, 07:52:54 pm
My car has two speakers in each side door card and rear and two tweeters on the pillar..so I'm guessing that's the 10 speaker pack?

I've currently got a sub in my car and im just wanting a decent car speaker set up...can I get anything around the 80-100 mark

Is that per pair?  Or per set of doors?  Or for the full lot?

I bought some Focal ISC165's for my Alhambra, and they are excellent.  I am thinking of getting more for the mk5.  Just don't know if I can be hooped really, since you have to drill out rivets and fit adaptors and stuff, compared to the straight swap on the Ally.

My £0.02.

Have you upgraded the amplification to the speakers? That'll make more of a difference than the speakers (OEM speakers are relatively good but let down as they receive a crap signal).

OEM speakers + decent amp is better than OEM amp + decent speakers.

Also, consider disconnecting the rear speakers entirely. You don't need them unless you're carrying rear passengers a lot. If you listen to a hi-fi, or go to a concert, the sound comes from in front - so why any different in the car?

Sorry for jumping into your thread @Jayy26 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=7508)
I've got the 10 speaker set up and if I fade rear and just listen to the fronts the sound isn't as good as having the f+r on as a lot of the bass is focused at the rear.
How can I upgrade the amp?. do I need to chop wiring and add the amp?.
