Title: Coolant temp sensor
Post by: s3dubbin on September 22, 2016, 01:42:25 pm
Looking to change the coolant temp sensor on my s3 8p thinking the part number is 06A 919 501A. Struggling to find it on the ECP page I phone them with that number and they come back with a radiator fan switch?? Their part number being 223440210? Is this the correct part but different name? Or not what im after.

Cheers, Stevie.

06A 919 501A is definitely the right one for the engine ECU & dash gauge.

I replaced that (and the thermostat) at the same time on my Ed30 recently, which I believe has the same engine as the S3.   Not a pleasant job if the S3's sensor is in the same position!

Also looking to replace mine on the eddy. Is it just the one sensor? Or two?

Cheers for the reply. I went in and thankfully they found me the right one. Changed it over tonight but it hasn't stopped my rev hunting issue. Might try the fuel pressure sensor next.

Your not on about the sensor prongs in the expansion tank are you?

One I think.  I had the classic over cooling issue, so I replaced both.  The sensor sits in the thermostat housing, so would be fool hardy not to do both whilst you're there.  The sensor is about 40 quid from VW tho, ouch!

Yes it is just rang local VW. Ordered a thermostat (he said it comes as one unit with the housing and sensor?) and engine coolant sensor. £80 for both. Going to replace same time as timing belt and water pump. Is there anything else am missing?

Mine didn't come with a sensor!  Did it this summer.

The part looks like this and if yours comes with a sensor, that's good!

That's about it for the coolant circuit.
