Title: Brembo 6 Pot - Will they fit?
Post by: lukemk5gti on December 12, 2016, 09:43:11 am
I'm looking at a set of Brembo 6 pot and want to know if they'll fit my GTI.

Front Only
This is what's included:
Fully refurbished brembo 18z 6 pot calipers purchased from killer brakes
EBC Gl450 merc discs 350mm brand new
Hubcentric aluminium rings to centre discs on hub
Bolt kit
Brand new Pads
HEL braided Brake lines
Brake pad wear sensor
mk5 gti hubs with brand new bearings

I have standard 18" monzas which I am keeping, will I have enough clearance with these brakes?

How much should I expect to pay in euro?

You will most likely need spacers. 12mm at a guess.

They'll fit.
Price is between 650,- 750,-€ last year.
I payed 700,-€ for the lot only the bolt kit I didn't buy. I bought the bolt kit with Epytec.de. It is a beter version of the existing one.
And Yes you'll need 12mm spacers.

Thanks!

The guy was asking for €1000 and at best €900 so I'll leave it off for now knowing that it's cheaper!

Won't the 6 pot have way too much peddle travel?

I have 4 pot toureg brakes and they don't bite for a good 40% press of the pedal, but once they do they are awesome.

I got a 4 pot kit with lines and 330mm discs and pads for £599

You have to consider the piston sizes. You can have 10 small pistons with less area than 1 big piston. It's the case of the smaller size Brembo 18Z (there are 3 different versions) which has a total piston area smaller than the piston area of the Golf 7 R/GTI PP/Clubsport Ed. 40/mk3 Cupra/8V S3 brake setup.

As long as your Golf has the 23,8 mm master-cylinder (the same size of the Golf 7 R) you won't have any brake pedal travel issue. :happy2:
