Anyone got any budget mk5 Golf GTI build threads as it seems everyone is able to purchase parts pretty easily but me being 20 years old on an apprenticeship (though good pay for apprentice) still struggle to purchase parts whilst still trying to save money for the future. I have had to pay alot towards repairs for my GTI so that does account for alot of the money that could have been spent on parts. But would be nice to see a budget performance daily based build  any links would be great.
Do have a Powervalve WRC Sports catback exhaust, with R32 Replica (needs replacing as its damaged now) and GTI exhaust exit diffuser. Looking to get a good cheap induction kit as my engine cover grommets are broken despite 3 of them being brand new and the engine cover is wobbling all over the place. Have replaced the whole HPFP, cam follower, engine mount (becuase it failed did comment in a thread on here about it and cost £600+ in damages and labour). Wheels need a refurb anyone done that themselves if so any thing I could do? 18ins Monzas

What are your goals? The costs are directly proportional to them usually
Usually the best way to save money is to monitor the classifieds for the mods you want that someone is passing on for a song.

Aiming to go stage 1 probably at the end of next year would like some cosmetic stuff (not sure what there is I could do) to go on including projectors, upgraded suspension with ARBs bushes and bit lower (roughly 20mm/30mm) would guess that brakes would have to be upgraded as well. Maybe in couple years go on further from that and go to stage 2. Also would be looking for a cheap project car in the summer as well most likely a mk1 mx5. Guessing finding bargains on classifieds and ebay would be best way?

£516 will bag you a brand new VW Racingline spring and damper set from Awesome GTI which is good value imo! I wouldn't personally entertain second hand suspension unless it's really low mileage. You can't tell if someone has smacked their car up a kerb and blown a damper valve, so it's a bit of a gamble!
Stage 1 software is rarely on offer unfortunately, so that'll be around £400-£500ish if custom or Revo.
There's always bargains on ebay! You can look at fitting alloy wishbones and hubs from a B6 Passat or S3 to go with the suspension, which are cheap. I paid £45 delivered for a pair of hubs! They're about £300 each new from VW.
I think there's a few induction kits in the classifieds!
Loads of options! I reckon it will feel superb on new suspension and you'll enjoy the car more, which will give you more time to save up for the expensive tuning stuff!
