Just had my second service and the visual inspection report states my brakes have only 10% wear on them.
Surely this can't be right?!?! Two years. 18000 miles. 10% wear. Doesn't make sense.
Ideas on how to check brake wear? Complete n00b at this kind of thing.

Can't really answer your question Stealth but after 13k and a Ring Trip VWR commented that my pads looked ''Brand New''! :happy2:

Other than measuring the pad thickness and working out a % against new - I don't know. Can you get something in there to measure? i.e. not have to remove a pad.
-
Just to give any idea I typically get around 40K on a set of pads, and need a set of discs around 60K.
Before anyone starts...I realise this is very much dependent on driving style, motorway mileage vs in town driving, tracks days, etc.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. In the worst case scenario your brake sensor will come up, but I suspect you got some way to go before that happens.

my pads still look like new and im on 20k now. it depends how heavy you are on them.

My Front TAROX discs are worn out :scared:, The car's done around 20k miles on them, but using VERY abrasive pads.
The discs were on Awesome's car before the ED30 and led a very hard life and were re-skimmed when fitted to it.
Monday morning a brand new set of discs arrived :jumping:......2 piece discs aren't cheap though :sad1:
Having said that there's still plenty of brake power left in them. The Performance box gave a reading of -1.81g this afternoon after a quick brake test :driver:

that sounds about right, if your not a last minute braker everywhere then they will go for ages. just look between the spokes of the wheel at the caliper and you should be able to see how much meat is left on them. We always slightly over estimate due to the inner pad which you cant see normally wears quicker. I really wouldnt worry about it, if there were getting low then they would say.
