I've got some genuine Audi alloys to fit to my MK5. I was wondering, from an insurance point of view are these considered non-standard alloys? Wasn't sure if I have to declare them to the insurance company as they're not Volkswagen alloys as such. But as VW owns Audi are they considered the same as VW alloys from an insurance perspective???

Declare them.

Definitely declare them. You will probably find it won't affect your premium anyway, unless your insurers are particularly awkward about mods of any kind.
-
You should always declare anything that didn't come on the car from the factory. Even if it's the same VAG group or from a more premium model.
Annoying but insurers will use any trick they can to get out of paying if an accident happens.

My insurer wouldn't cover 17" Monzas to 18" Monzas (I'm not even joking here... screw you AXA NI).
They would however cover 19" eBay specials. Their policy was that you had to upgrade the wheel size by at LEAST 2". For example, if I had factory 18" Monzas, I would have to upgrade to at least 20". Insanity.
With Greenlight now and they are much more sensible to "mods". Moral of the story is, yes, declare.

^lol. Thanks for the replies, I've had insurance companies in the past who have flat out refused to insure me due to having non manufacturer standard alloys. I was wondering if I would have to have some kind of argument with them that technically they are manufacturer standard alloys! Will declare them and see what they say, as like slix says it could bite me in the a$$ one day if I don't.
