Title: Cleaning EVOMS Air Filter
Post by: JamieKirk95 on January 30, 2017, 09:55:51 pm
Hi all

I am soon to be doing a full service on my mk5 gti including cam follower, pcv valve and gasket, spark plugs along with the normal service parts.

My car had an evoms intake kit on it when I bought it, I have never had an induction kit before so is still quite new to me. I have tried looking at the options but I cant get a clear answer,

Do I just clean the filter out with cleaner and warm water and let it air dry or will I need to spray oil on it, i've found this kit so would this be all I need?

Heres some pictures of the intake

Ahh perfect thank you Rich, from what I've read you just don't use too much oil on it after?

Thank you

Just follow the instructions. Can't remember exactly what it says but you want a uniform light red coating

Dab the excess oil off with kitchen towel or something if you over oil it.    And then after a week, pop the MAF out of the pipe and wipe it.  No red stains, no over oiling  :happy2:

In my MK2 days I used the dishwasher, once to clean and once with the washer empty to clean the dishwasher.

Don't get caught :happy2:

Can you use the same stuff on a panel filter out of curiosity? I have a VWR panel filter on mine

I thought the VWR one is foam?  In which case you'll need a different oil.  But yeah, K&N oil can be used on any pleated cotton filter.
