Hi Fella's, just a quick question which i can't seem to find the answer too.
I've bought an oil filter for my mk5 gti along with 5ltrs of 5w40 quantum and an oem sump plug to do a change and i've noticed the filter i have is a metal screw on style one as opposed to the drop in paper filter. Do both types fit or do i need to get a paper filter?

You need a paper drop in one.

That's great, cheers

Why did they give you a metal screw one?

I just ordered one off eBay mate and did the eBay "does this fit my car check" and it said it did so I ordered it - then I checked a how to guide for changing the oil and realised it had a different type so guessed I needed a paper one.

Yeah, that's wrong. Not seen a screw on one at all on any guides or pictures of changing oil on the Mk5
Ah hold on, there is one, but its for different engines which are later cars

Yeh I just checked the item and it's specified for a different engine code not bwa.
Never mind! Is there any brand of oil filters to avoid for these cars?
