Alright I was driving home last night and engine cut out and wouldn't start got it to my garage and stripped it down to find that the chain had snapped,
Was wondering if when the Inlet chain snaps does it bend valves, also anyone know wheRe can get a hpfp upgraded from at good price,

Also was planning to go Germany on Friday 14th July so going to have to work my arse off to try get it fixed

Head off pressure test and skim as valves are definitely bent

Send this member a message Pesky Jones (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=17818) for his thread on such an issue.
I would also read this

as you may find you need to keep your repairer right if they've not done one before.

Oh dear that's not good! I've recently had major issues with Cam damage too. Where there any signs before it snapped? I've never heard of this really happening on these
-
Depends at what rpm/load the chain snapped. If it snaps at very low rpm/idle, sometimes you can get away with it. Without any load on the cam, the valves will try to snap shut pretty quickly. If the chain snaps at motorway speeds or high load.....your chances of no damage are slim!
Fit a new chain, compression test it and go from there. You'll need a new chain anyway, so won't hurt to quickly do that before removing the head.

Out of interest was it rattly on tickover when warmed up before it went? Mine was like that, glad I got it done now.
