Hi all.
I have just fitted a mk5 multi function steering wheel (non-flat bottom) to my 06 Golf Mk5 GTi. I installed it with the new steering wheel loom and the required steering wheel controller unit 1K0-953-549-ch.
The buttons on the wheel have power because they are lit up.
I have had the car coded to enable the MFSW buttons.
I also installed a kenwood 7017DABS double din unit using a Connects2 loom with the CANBUS converter box.
Basically the steering wheel buttons are not working (never have as yet).
What am I missing here?
Thanks,
Chris

Anyone have any ideas of what I can try?
-
You seem to have done all the right things, what coding have you entered?
-
I used this guide to code http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf_(1K)_Steering_Wheel
-
Ok but what coding have you entered for the equipment your car has according to that guide?
-
0000734

Im wondering, did I need to change the slip ring as well as the steering controller or it either works or doesn't work? The controller is 1K0-953-549-ch
Thanks
-
The slip ring should be ok I think, try coding it 0000534 and let me know if it helps.

Ok so I got the buttons to work on 0000134. Left side: Volume up and down, volume mute, change source. Right side: Multi function screen control.
However, this has revealed another issue in that the horn constantly sounds and doesn't stop as soon as I turn the wheel!!
I've had to code the MFSW out again to get the horn to stop honking!
Any ideas?!
-
Where did the 1 come from? According to the VCDS page it should be 5? Does the horn work normally when coded out?
-
Seeing your wanted ad I'm guessing you don't have the correct loom?
-
The 1 was suggested by the software itself (you get a pop up window when you click into the coding box). That works where the 5 doesn't.
And yes, I have a MK6 loom  :congrats:

Ok I seem to remember I needed the same code to get mine working.

So, next question. Is it possible to get the up and down buttons on the right hand side of the wheel to change track on an aftermarket headnunit (kenwood 7017DABS)? The buttons on the right currently control the dash screen. I have a midline dash by the way.
-
Mine work with a kenwood DNX516DABS. I use the menu button on the right to scroll to audio menu on the dash display and then they'll change track, note this only works in the audio menu, the volume buttons work whatever menu is shown on the dash, do you have a highline dash?
-
Midline dash
-
Ahhh I'm not sure you can do it then on a midline dash or that's what I'm led to believe.
-
I know the Kenwood has a mapping function so you are supposed to hold down a button on the steering wheel and then you can map it to a function on the headunit. Mine does nothing when you hold the button however. Im wondering if this is because I have a Connect 2 Canbus adaptor?
-
Sorry I've no idea I only know mine works how I've described, I'm still more inclined to think it's because you have the midline rather than the highline dash.

Hi All,
I just got myself a long awaited LWB Spacegear 1996, any ideas on a UK equivelant to the
Kenwood DBX 8000 MJ, and do you have to rip them out and replace to get any signal in the UK etc?
Thanks

I have this exact problem. Do we know how it was solved? TIA
