Title: DIY carbon vinyl plinth
Post by: gillm on February 27, 2010, 09:24:19 pm
over the past few weeks i have been thinking of vinyl wrapping and after getting quotes to have it done i was amazed on the prices £75 = £115 . so i thought sod it i will track down some 3M vinyl and do iy myself , which worked out to be £38 delivered and is planty to do 1 plinth and alot spare (already done 2 badges and prob enough to do another 15 ) . any ways i think it turned out realy well .

i used a plinth i got from steve p (cheers mate )

I was a test pilot for Racoon when they first got this stuff, and they didn't split my badge. After a while you get shrinkage and the chrome shows a bit.

That smart arse Danza told us about splitting the badge when he did his.  :happy2:

The badges are tricky to split as there's usually a couple of lugs that snap!  :scared:

Looking good Gillm! Good effort!  :congrats:

The badge splits pretty easily, you've a 50:50 chance of breaking the first clip, but there's so many left it makes no difference.

Do you have a link for the 3M stuff, I wouldn't mind some more.

Are there any "how to" guides for doing this?

Also, where did you order the film?

Do you know what size you ordered? I was looking at the 100cm x 60cm but that might be too much....

Looks great by the way. Looking forward to seeing it on your car.
