Hey guys any idea what’s going on here this noise happens when the car is running or just the ignition switched on it’s pretty loud and annoying, sounds like it’s coming from the dash.
You hear the first quite click at 17s into the video and then a load more louder clicks at 26s into the vid.
Having trouble adding the link not sure if it’s working or not ?

My air con/fans make similar noises quite a lot. Turn your blowers off and see if it happens again

I have the exact same noise which I've noticed recently over the last month or so. Mine also appears to be coming from the dash/airvents.

Mines the same. I only seem to notice it when the ignition is off. Seems to come from the tip of the dash somewhere.

From a bit of research it seems to be something to do with the air heater flaps/motor, the motor should be under the glove box, I might take it out and have a look while were on lock down.

I’ve seem part number mentioned 1K2 907 511 G being the heater vent flap positioning motor
And also the one in the video 1K0 907 511 C being the recirculating flap motor.
I guess I need to get in there and disconnect one at a time and see if the noise stops.

I definitely do not believe yours is the recirculating flap...it is a constant ratcheting sound. I only heard the one time yours fluttered a bit. Not ever heard that one. Sorry.

Yeah, give it all a look. I have done some searching and for a sound that is faint and random...all I have found is something found in the cabin/pollen filter and another wasn't solved but people were saying the dual climatronic system just makes weird noises sometimes. When you did your vid, the system was off I assume? While giving it a look, try cleaning connections and apply a tiny bit of lube.

OP like I said it's the same noise mine makes, random and not constant. It does it all the time (randomly) when the climate control is on, and much much less when it is off (never really).
Unless it is bugging you that much I wouldn't worry about it. Mine has done it since I bought it 4 years ago at 49,000 miles, and hasn't got better or worse in 4 years and another 65,000 miles (112,000 on the clock now). Air con still blows super cold and works perfectly.

@TheBALDpuma (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=16618) mines not random though it does the exact same sound every couple of mins, that’s why I think maybe a cog stripped some teeth I do get the random clicks as well when the fans are on but they are different to this one and come from a different area of the dash.
