Post by: Mobrrown45 on May 18, 2020, 11:31:15 pm
Anyone had this, apart from the usual engine tfsi rattles, pressing down the cover noticed there Less rattles, Anyone else had this and know how to make it fit more snug to eliminate the rattles ?

Cover seems fitted ok im guessing there’s some rubber bungs that i could renew, can you buy em separately ?

Be careful removing the cover and when replacing it. Many people damage the fuel pressure regulator on the HPFP when not careful.
Here's your part number; 036 129 689 B
Here's one place to get them; https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-volkswagen-audi-parts/air-cleaner-buffer-priced-each/036129689b/

While it is removed, these will be in the bottom of the "engine cover/air filter box", but sometimes they come out of the cover and remain on their posts. Also while the cover is removed, make sure the posts are tight and there are no cracks in the cover itself. Especially where these grommets go.

Putting Silicone grease on the rubbers and posts make removal and replacement a lot easier in future.

/\ indeed it does, as does only removing the engine cover when the engine is hot.  Removing the cover when the engine is cold is a lot more of a struggle and increases the risk of cracking it.
