Hi
1st post
Just bought a 2008 MK5 Gti.
Has highline Stereo fitted with module so bluetooth and voice control already work how do you fit steering wheel switches and do you have to code after installing?
Thanks

Welcome @Bev5871 (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=72842)
I believe the buttons can only be retro-fitted to a steering wheel that doesn't already have them if it's a DSG one with a flappy paddles, as they have blanks in that can be swapped out with switches. I just looked and this is confirmed here https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=30095.0
If not, then the only option is a replacement wheel. I think if doing this, the Mk6 MFSW (Multi Function Steering Wheel) looks the nicest, also available in flat bottom too. If you go Mk6 there are a few other things to check, like the version of slip ring and steering control module... been a while since I did mine. A good writeup here: https://www.r32oc.com/topic/30036-change-mk5-multi-function-steering-wheel-to-a-mk6-wheel/
Coding will be required.
Good luck

I had a standard GTI steering wheel and added the wheel controls to it. It is a case of slowly trimming the foam away until a switch fits.....the screw hole to mount each switch is there, but hidden under the moulding foam.
The steering wheel controle module would also need to be changed and then coded. Works great on mine with highline.
