Does anyone know what the Blueflame is like compared to the Miltek with regards to cabin noise. Is it equivalent to a res or non res Milltek? Or do they do their own versions?
Matt?
-
Ben,
I went out in NB07's ED30 during the week with a blueflame, not really to my taste as more cabin noise than the milltek - a lot lower resonance frequency when driving around town, not too disimiliar when on motorway to an oem system. I personally prefer the milltek, but it does sound great on full chat.
-
Cheers Dom. Think I will be going Milly again. Just thought i'd look at other options and the Blue Flame does seem to get good reports from what I have read.
Think I need a run out in a BF'd car to see for sure..
-
Where abouts are you vtec abuser, I'm in Bristol if you want a spin in my stage2+ ed30 with blueflame.
-
I know Nick is going to Spring Fest, am sure you'll be able to get a ride in one then. Forget to say, that the comparison I made was with regard to Milltek res TBE.
-

I'm in Lincoln pal and will find it a little hard to get to the West country at the min. But appreciate the offer mate.. :happy2:
If there are any vids though that could help? :jumping:
-
its good Ben, as Dom says on the motorway its pretty quiet cruising but when you go WOT its berserk! coupled with a good intake its awesome. ive been in a couple of milltek cars and to me it sounds like standard which is good as you can get the power without the noise if thats what you want but i dont want to hear my 2.0 ticking, the blueflame makes it sound more purposeful in my opinion. its all horses for courses though as robin will say people interpret sounds in different ways. you need to hear it properly to be able to judge i think. im in south lincs next week if you can get down, otherwise as Dom said Spring Fest :happy2:
-
did you sell the milly then? you heard it already from out side tho when we were at the pod
i take it you liked the noise?
-
Ben you know Awesome gti are doing 25% off all bluflame exhausts on scn at the min.
-
Mmmm, interesting.. What does that bring it down to mate, do you know off hand or wil have have to look?
-
ermm i would say around £750-800 but your probably best looking.
-

Yes mate, sold the old Milly as it was a GTI system and fancied a change to the Ed30 system when I get the car back.
Remember your car on the day, but can't really remember what she sounded like to be fair as there were loads of us lot running.. :ashamed:
-
no worries i'll take you for a spin next time i see you mate. :happy2:
just remembered when i was at blueflame yesterday i saw another MK5 GTI there and Dave told me they are currently developing a system for Germany/Europe which is TUV approved and will be quieter if thats what your after. :happy2:
-
For a cupra it works out around £812 inc vat, if i didnt already have a zaust i would be buying one for that price :happy2:.

Well I had a resonated Milly before and that mint with regards to all round noise for cruising and when on WOT. Certainly don't want anything that drones etc.
Will most likely be buying 2nd hand with me only having the Golf 10 months when I get her back before changing again and there is one if the For Sale section that I maybe interested in if the price is negotiable (hence the enquiry).
Is there any performance difference do we know (he says whilst hiding from any upcoming argumentive views) :signLOL:
-
that's a debate in itself.
In truth who knows, all I can say is when I spoke to Milltek they told me the blueflame would give greater top end gains on account of the 3inch bore all the way where as the milltek is only 3inch from the turbo to the cat.
In any case Im sure the overall difference would be marginal.
I'm sure the greater trading quality is whether you prefer the sound of the milltek or the blueflame as they are very different.
-
depends on the cat, mine is 100 cell, i think most of the blueflames are 100 but they do 200 as well. milltek do both also but unless specified its 200 cell. plus its a true 3 inch all the way through so that helps a bit

The blueflame is a full 3 inch system the milltek isnt, and the milly retains a back box which other exhaust manufacturers say isnt ideal for performance, and that having no backbox and a mid resonator is better.
Dont think any of that really translates back onto the track though.
btw mate, you know carl with the 335d who was a regular at the pod last year, hes sold up now, might see him in a 335i soon though murdering those 1/4 times
-
I have only sat briefly in a car with a full milltek and buying the blueflame was a bit of a gamble. Will express some of the comments already said - cruising is surprisingly quiet even on motorway, but it can be quite loud when pressing on - personally I don't feel it creates drone and I don't find the extra sound a headache or something unbearable or tiresome - but you may have a different opinion if you heard it yourself.
-
Good choice stiggy.
I also like the fact the tail pipes aren't branded, it makes it look more original equipment.
-
Will never own another milltek  sorry Blueflame on the last 3 cars and thats all i will ever fit to any of my cars :rolleye: Y u ask great service and the perfect sound that does not drone at all even with full race mounts on the car  but start going up the revs then it just comes to life  and god it sounds like an evo  trust me mate once you go blueflame nothing else will do :P

to be honest i love my pipes but i think i prefer mat's they look OEM but bigger mine are the Fuji tips but i think mat has hokenhiems? when i first saw his last year they looked really good and that was part of the reason after a bit of research and number crunching that i went blueflame. i didnt specify my tail pipe design thinking they would be the same but they are still good. there is a lot of things to consider when your spending best part of a grand on a part like this but im very pleased with my decision, my misses likes it too which helps as shes a fussy bugger! :rolleye:

im going stealth! no one suspects the black golf! :innocent:
im just running with the forum stickers in the rear windows 8)
the pipes may hint a bit of something though so watch out scoobies!
-
scoobies :popcornsoda: i have one of those thats also having some vc stickers soon
-
How many horses do those stickers add to your car
I really prefer those exhaust tips to mine - which are slash cut and not rolled like the stock exhaust. I will be changing them in the near future by blueflame. They also have the option of black exhaust tips.
-
I decided on blueflame as I had just spoke to revo who were very happy with the dyno results on the blueflame. Another decidingnfactor was that I've still not heard of any failures or stress fractures on the blueflame compared to loads on the miltek. Don't get me wrong though it's not all gravy on the blueflame the welds arnt the best and mine arrived with a dent on the tail pipes.
I tried to source an eisenmann as I had one on my m3 and honestly was the best car mod I'd ever bought, due to not being able to source one I thought I'd give bf a try

Out of interest, what is the finish which Blueflame use for their black tips?
My Milltek (custom built TBE Non-Resonated):

They are satin black ceramic finish - looks nice in that pic :happy2:
-

Glad to read the BF are ceramic coated (like mine). Powdercoating on exhausts discolours (goes very grey) in the Winter.
The black satin ceramic is soooo eeeeasy to keep clean.
