Title: Definitive A/C Thread?
Post by: JoshB on July 05, 2021, 03:47:35 pm
Hi,

I’ve just picked up a 55 plate GTi that has the early AC with the ECON button (if it matters). Anyway it doesn’t work, I’ve tried to piece information together and I’ve ascertained that the compressor pipe is proper freezing, so I think I’m in luck that it’s something simpler. Flicking through the history it had an AC service in 2016.
Do you think a simple re-gas would sort it? I’ve read about a pressure switch? Any guides on how to replace it?

It seems it’s a common problem but there doesn’t seem to be proper guide for it when I’ve searched.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

If you have a Kwik fit near you then you could always book in for a recharge. If it doesn't work you don't pay.

Did you get sorted Josh? I've got a pressure switch and crows foot spanner aswell as ac solenoid if needed that I could sell you at a discount price.
