I hope you are all well. I have recently signed up to this forum. I recently purchased a Black MK5 2009, Golf Pirelli Edition last week. I have no service book or spare key. I was hoping a member from this forum may assist or shed some light. I am happy to provide vehicle reg if required.

What did the owner say ref thd no history and key

Thank for responses:
Purchased from a trader. Therefore, I was hoping someone from this forum may be able to shed some light if I provided a reg number.

Edition 30 cars were numbered - that is if the plaque was provided/picked up from VW - do you know your Golfs ED30 number?
-
I dont know the number as of yet. However, will be in touch with VW and can provide you folks to better trace it. Cheers

Not sure the Pirellis are numbered? Is it definitely a UK car? I've seen more Japanese imports for sale than UK cars, they often come without service history.

Good point on the numbering - I don't know about Pirelli's, I was just triggered by ED30 and assumed it would be numbered, if it had a plaque it would increase the chance of someone knowing it...
@OP does your Golf have any other distinguishing features...moles or birthmarks? modifications?
If it has come from Japan, your car will likely to have been purchased through an auction house.
They have a policy of everything gets taken out of the car, this includes radio, service book, spare keys and this all is meant to be sent on separately - probably to avoid theft in transit - but as they are dealing with multiple thousands of car sales each day, the stuff often gets lost / separated from the car - this seems a very chaotic process for such an organised country!
If yours does turn out to be an import, the good news is the Japanese usually are very meticulous over taking care of their cars, especially non-domestic ones.

I've just been in touch with VW. Apparently, the Pirelli edition doesn't come with number. Only the Edition 30.
How would I tell if the vehicle is an import. I was able to trace one service stamp back in 2013.
Therefore, reaching out to all Mk5 Gti fans. If anyone could shed some light or perhaps owned this prior to my ownership. I am happy to provide registration if need be.

Have you tried putting the reg number into the MOT checker website? That will give some insight into how long it has been in UK
-
Or checking to see if the reg no. is in the Pirelli register on this site? https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,89532.0.html

All MOT carried out here in UK since 2013. So clearly a UK registered model.
