Evening chaps edition 30 clutch pedal issue when driving it hard the usual coming up slowly.
I stumbled upon the input shaft shims which can be added.
So popped my cover of the gearbox as per the vids floating around and managed to fit the shim and the lock ring back in there.
Would I be correct in thinking if I could fit the shim and the lock ring back in place it needed to be shimmed ??
I made a bit of an error thinking I could re use the cover so when I knocked it back into place I dented the middle so it concaved in and when I come of the gas I now makes a whirring noise again would I be correct in thinking it’s just the cover that’s concaved in that’s causing the whirring noise to happen as it must be touching the the end of the input shaft on over run ?
Or do I not need the shim fitted although it does fit with snap ring in place ?
My cars a 2008

Wasn’t it rare for later cars to need to be shimmed? I checked a 2006 and found no need for shimming at all. That was a 145kish.

Yep. Cars already factory shimmed won't take the shim kit.
