Title: Not leather?

Hi
I just had a new second hand drivers seat delivered and whilst cleaning I noticed one panel on the side of the bolster is fabric and not leather.
I’m not that bothered I will live with it quite happily.
Just wondering why this is? Is it a repair?

Mine was fabric and they all are as far as i know, I imagine it's for durability if it rubs against the centre console?

Oh ok, but my original seat has leather , factory cost cutting?
Should have mentioned my car is 55 plate this seat is from 08 car.

VW has been doing fake leather on the side panels for years - the contact surfaces for the base, back and headrest should be leather
