Title: Camber, toe and caster fora trackday
Post by: fuscobal on April 24, 2010, 01:27:53 am
These would be the alignment angles for the standard EURO spec GTI :

ALIGNMENT SPECS:

Front:
Camber:  -44' +/- 30'
Toe Out (at left and right lock) :  1deg 22'
Caster:  7deg 47
Ride Height:  360 +/- 7mm
Rear:
Camber : 1deg 45'

These would be on a stock suspension of-course. Now, the question would be how are these values influenced by an aftermarket coilover ? Let's say We have an coilover that just lowered the car by 2cm or about 0.75inch. What would be the default values in this case and what would you call good values for the track without going extreme on tire wear ?

coilovers wont effect your to in or out, as you can adjust that anytime you want.  you wil get a little more negative camber the lower you go, and your caster is fixed unless you have caster adjustable top mounts.

....Doesn't the WALK (Whiteline Anti-Lift Kit) add a wee bit of beneficial caster?

yes it does, but he is enquiring about the effect of coilovers on their own.
