I had 1 go ages back.
Just replaced the one and touch wood i have never had any probs with the others.
That was about 30k miles ago.
I carry a couple of spare though just in case

The impression I got from this site is that if one goes, the others are imminent and the entire lot should be replaced.

Hope thats the case.
I had a bad misfire. Looked like coil4 as it was dirty (water had got in the hole) When I replaced it the misfire calmed but i still get a splutter under high load :( :sad1:
Replacing all four tonight, fingers crossed!!!

....I hope I'm not tempting fate nor speaking too soon, but I had my first coilpack go last Summer and have been ok since with the other three originals.

Its more down to personal preference i think. A mate of mine works in a VW TPS so i tend to just replace things in bulk as it were as it seems to make more sense whilst im working on the car.
If only one has broke tho then no reason to replace a fully working one at the end of the day.

I was led to believe the others would go aswell as it "apparently" puts a bit more stress on the others.
But as i said i replaced one that went and touch wood the other 3 spares i have are still sat in the boot.
My Car has done 58k miles and the other 3 coil packs are the originals.
But i have the spares now just in case
