Title: York 1/4 mile day - 31st May???
Post by: jonnyc on May 04, 2010, 01:11:33 pm
Hey all,

After a good day at York yesterday I thought it would be worth seeing who fancies the 31st??

Ill be there with a couple of my friends and their cars, good laugh!

One thing I would say is to aim to get there for around 9am, this way you'll be able to get some runs in early before it gets busy!  :happy2:

So whos up for it!? Copy and paste the list into your post  :happy2:

Run 2.. 12.421 @ 111.66 MPH - 1.828 60ft (4000RPM LAUNCH)
Run 3.. 12.458 @ 110.01 MPH - 1.809 60ft (4200RPM LAUNCH)
Run 4.. 12.320 @ 110.82 MPH - 1.761 60ft (4400RPM LAUNCH)

Well, I managed to get there around 2.15pm and sat straight in the queue till 4.30pm and managed....................2 runs :fighting:
The organisation in the afternoon went downhill fast methinks :sad1:

Great to see Neil, Rich and a few others. 1st run I was against an RS4, which I slaughtered as it has one of those old fashioned things called a manual gearbox and the owner managed to miss a gear

1st run I bogged it a little and did a 13.1 and the second run was better, but still not a perfect launch. I think the timing is pulling a little at the top end too with the agressive 9 boost setting and the day was quite warm too (20oC on the car guage). Anyways, I digress.......finally in the 12's..........

  :pomppomp: :pomppomp: :star: :pomppomp: :pomppomp:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ft8%2Fhurdy_album%2F129quarter.jpg&hash=b6949a70471b3dbe35ef5ccfebe43e37c7b65989)

If I'd managed a few more launches I reckon it would have been under 12.8 quite easily, but at 4.30pm they were still letting the American scrap cars down. :indifferent:

Was a fooking awesome day... i loved it !!!!

I performed astonishing,

My times were;

Run 1.. 13.569 @ 106.89 MPH - 2.429 60ft
Run 2.. 13.982 @ 107.14 MPH - 2.707 60ft
Run 3.. 13.621 @ 106.57 MPH - 2.443 60ft
Run 4.. 14.363 @ 106.63 MPH - 3.164 60ft - bad run
Run 5.. 14.073 @ 108.15 MPH - 2.612 60ft
Run 6.. 13.537 @ 106.45 MPH - 2.411 60ft

My last run was the best,

Hurdy left same time as me, he hit 12.9 secs on his last run!!! - he was very very pleased...

Jabballa was very dissapointed, as hurdy was saying, he needs to improve his map and get around all the sensors the ED30 engine has.. then i think we'll see some good figures - hope you get it sorted soon Luke...

Me and Jaballa had a race, i beat him just    -  but he did set of late, so wasn't really fair :innocent:

I think i have the Drag race in my blood now... was so addicting  :rolleye:

I think Jonnyc did this as the bar weighed around 18kg.

I have plenty to go at before safety kit gets removed Joe :happy2:

if you have no seats in the back then you have no need for the bar,  :signLOL:

Get down to Pod mate during the summer and find out.
I reckon we need another forum meet there soon. Be good to compare the times at York compared to Pod. I did always find it a tad quicker in my CTR when use to go. But that was a good while back now. Think a trip to York maybe on the cards..  :jumping:

Was admiring yours at VWR on Thursday Niel   Lovely.  Cant wait for carbon bonnets to go into production for the Leon.
Thanks, hoping to get it back for the Inters

Just under 1300kg

I'm looking to get it under 1300kg too John but with the weight of a rear roll cage may struggle, mates running in the VW Cup have stripped front doors & plastic windows saving 40kgs but I'm going to need the electric windows with no A/C

....Ah, is it you who Mat @ VWR mentioned a half-cage about? I'm investigating a removable half-cage.

Sorry it's off-topic (very unusual for me )

i was thinking the same....with the mods already on that car Hybrid K04 is no real jump and a cage is not necessary.

a cage is not exactly lightweight. so he'll need a nice increase in bhp to compensate.

so 30R or big hit of NOS perhaps.
