Have some dealers had to drop there pre reg'd car prices ??, recently looked at a Golf R and since i last looked they have knocked 2k of its price they originally wanted, then i looked at a Scirroco R and they originally wanted 33.5k, its now just under 30k , have they been ambitious with there pricing on second hand cars ?, do we think new car sales are suffering too (on the R type models), ps dont want it to turn into the usual Golf R slanging match, i'm just interested to hear if other people have seen this with the dealers near them ?

my local dealer has stopped selling anything 'hot'
they got bored of sitting on GTI's and R32's when smaller engined and soot chuckers were the easier sells, they punt them up to the northern dealerships when they get px'd in now, and they have an unfilled allocation for the R's that they havent used too
just not the market/money for them down here

I have to say i was looking at scirroco's down south and they was wanting 2-3k less than dealers near me , seems though at the moment that our dealers are dropping prices too

They had the shot took it and missed, its not like we're all still in a huge recession. It didn't represent good value. Late 20's fully loaded was where it should have been at.
Im glad

hmm will it hurt the residuals of the ones already out there??
ah well too late now :signLOL:

Saw my first Golf R today, looked 'aight'. Not really feeling that VXR blue though :sad1:
-
how can u compare the rising blue to the cheapo blue of the VXR
that's insulting! :signLOL:

Not a bad choice of car if its on my company car list :signLOL:

35k for a full spec R. instead of nearer 40k. Result :happy2:

I think VW should have learnt from the R36 Passat that people just wont pay Astronomical amounts just because it's got an R badge.
Granted the Golf R & Scirroco R are nice cars and 10K cheaper i think they would have sold a lot better.
VW are now going to become a victim of their own greed and i feel sorry for anyone who has bought one as the residual value will just plummet. I recently saw an R36 Passat which when new was £38k. 5 months later with 5500 miles on it it was £21995. Thats a big hit losing £3k a month.
I think dealers are now trying to get rid of them, probably under pressure from VW, so are having to sell them as cheap as they possibly can.

They did the same to the R36 as they did with the R32's.
Just over 18 months ago you could have had a R32 for £17k and last year a R36 for £20k.
Seems a bizarre way to carry on really. :stupid:

I know its just what popped straight into my head when I spotted it from a distance. No offence intended to those who have ordered or got it in that colour :signLOL:

Has this maybe got something to do with the hole greek in debt thingy and the EU lending them 92bn which dropped the price of the euro and so exchange rates are better against the pound or am i just :fighting2:.
