After the part number to price up a cooler from Audi, its to be fitted to an Edition30 so will i need custom pipework such as samco etc?
-
Sorry don't know the part no's but all you need is the standard S3 pipework.

S3 Intercooler - 1K0 145 803P - £214+vat
Left Pressure Hose - 1K0 145 834 AA - £23+vat
Right Connection Hose - 1K0 145 832 L - £48+vat
Maybe worth having a word with OwenLCR he was talking about selling his.

May aswell ask on this thread instead of starting another.
If i was to fit a S3 intercooler to my 07plate GTi am i right in thinking i would need a different turbo to intercooler pipe? as in not the S3 parts?

Ive just priced this up and it came too £303 all in including Vodka And Tonic, that seems pretty good to me

The intercooler does not connect directly to the turbo, but rather to an intermediate pipe. So if upgrading any GTI (K03 or K04) to an S3 cooler, the only parts you need are the S3 intercooler, the two S3 black hoses, and four M6 bolts (which replace self-tappers.)

Cheers mate :happy2:
Just checking as i was sure iread somewhere that i would need a different hose if i was fitting it to a KO3 as the connecting lugs were different

The only difference is the end where the hoses connect to the intercooler. The 'standard' coolers have plastic end tanks, the hoses have a spigoted connection with a spring wire retaining ring. The S3 cooler has alloy end tanks, and the hose connections are old skool jubilee clip types. The oposite ends of the hoses are all standard.

Splendid Thanks :happy2:

What happens when you got a S3 cooler fitted on a Gti, and you want to fit a Forge Twintercooler?? what pipes would you need??

Someone did this, can't remember if it was on here or on GolfMkV.com. Just asked Forge for a set of S3 hoses or something with a GTI Twintercooler (not sure if there's any difference) and it went alright. Drop an email to Forge, they'll probably advise best.
-
Yes, you'll just need to order the S3 twintercooler hoses from Forge...

That was moi!
And bacillus is correct - just order the S3 silicone hoses from Forge. Oh, and keep a stanley knife handy and sharpend - the hoses invariably need a bit of trimming.

Is the s3 IC a worth while mod?

Is the s3 IC a worth while mod?
Yes it is but it's labour intensive to fit...
-
Is the s3 IC a worth while mod?
Yup - definately. Even on a bog standard 200PS GTI - upgrading the stock intercooler is a very worthwhile mod. Though the S3 cooler probably wont appear very high on peeps 'drool ratings'.
And whilst the actual cooler is quite cheap to buy, bacillus is correct in pointing out the labour for actually fiting it is relatively high.
