Title: Cheap Courier Service
Post by: Boothy on May 14, 2010, 08:01:26 pm
Just a quick one. I'm wanting to try sell my old rims on E-bay but according to the guide I'll need to quote a delivery charge. I've had a quick scan but everywhere is coming out around the £90 mark which seems an lot, especially to a potential buyer! Can anyone recommend a company they have used that charges less?

Cheers, Boothy.

I think you'll find parcel2go.com will be a popular choice on here.
I've used them with success several times. Twice I've had a rim damaged whilst in transit but that has been as much to do with the way the sender packaged them as anything.

Have a search around for discount vouchers too as last time I used them I managed to get 25% off, so 4 rims for the price of 3.
Depending on how much insurance you want it will be around £30 - £40 for a set of wheels with tyres in 18'' flavour.

Tried them. £76 plus vat for four wheels without tires? According to the box that the wheels came in each package weighs 36KG. Does that sound about right?

I've used parceltogo 3 times for shifting wheels and always 35-40quid,

theres no way each wheel weighs 36kg, I have a fetish for weighing wheels  and the heaviest 19" rim and tyre I've come across (ha ha ha) is 23kg with a tyre :happy2:

Whenever I have used parcel2go (the only courier I use for large items, or anything over 2kg for that matter!) I use DHL, on the 24-72 hour delivery, £8.20 incvat per item, butthen I get the alloy wheels and wrap them in industrial cling film as a pack of 2, so it only costs me £20 inc insurance. Have never had anyone question me doing it this way either!
