Title: Yeppiee
Post by: ollie288 on June 07, 2010, 09:04:48 pm
Well as some will know, from another thread involving me asking noobie questions about bikes, that I am trying to get my bike licence. I have passed my theory and have my training booked soon and will hopefully *fingers crossed* be passed by the end of the month. I now have a bike!  :pomppomp:

Its 59 reg with 1500 miles on the clock. Has a tailtidy and scorpion can on. Im so exited!  :jumpmove:

Also just go this to match.

And looking for these in a size 46:

I have been looking for a leather alpinestars jacket with the same green on but cannot find one or gloves!  :sad1:

Thanks Matt, for all your advice too!  :drinking:

I haven't got any pics yet. I have bought it off a friends dad who has been offered a Honda and offered me his. I think this is better as I know how the bike has been treated etc. Its only just been run in.

I will have a look now. They are Alpinestars S-MX R boots.
I hope so to!  :happy2:

No bother at all Ollie, thats what forums are all about :happy2:

I've just typed the boots into Google and there seems to be a few places selling them, might struggle to find a size 46 though (just chop your toes off, makes shoe selection a mile easier :jumping:)

Yeah I have found a 45 for £120 delivered! I am a 45 in normal shoes but I was told I may need a size up. I will try some 45's on tomorrow and hopefully they are a comfortable fit.

I'll echo the same things about being carefull. I've been closely involved with 3 bike accidents now. One was a year ago today when we lost a brother in law. The other two were friends, one of which Lost a leg a week ago today. Be careful out there ollie. With great power comes great responsibility.

I know they are very dangerous machines even when ridden carefully. A study in a mag said that 36.6% of crashes were caused because of a car drivers inability to see the biker.  :scared:

Think I am getting old....

Just turned 40, and haven't ridden the Duke in over a year.  But don't have the heart to sell her.

You can't be careful enough M8

Top tips that have kept me safe over the years.

Good luck and keep safe

Thanks for the advice NC35, always appreciated.  :happy2:

I went into a bike shop on friday and asked for top quality kit, came out with a significantly lighter wallet along with Arai chaser, alpinestars RC1 leather jacket, AS A10 trousers, AS SMX plus, AS SP-1 gloves. I think I am have all I need to get going when I pass. The chap in the shop was surprised when I asked for the better stuff, he said new rider usually buy cheaper gear with minimal protection.  :stupid:

Again cheers for the advice, its always good to hear from experienced riders.  :drinking:

Should have added a back protector. Alpinestars will probably zip in else Hein Gerick stuff is great quality at a great price.

Finally sorry to ve a bore. IAM training is excellent. Not nerds sat a 30mph everywhere. Obsevation is everything.

Don't want to be a downer. Biking is excellent, going to get back out soon.

Have fun & stay safe  :happy2:

Bike Leathers are the best kit, been down the road in my Heine Ger's and hardly a mark on them :happy2: but if you like the denim look get some Draggin Jeans, lined with kevlar had a pair and liked them.
